William Powell

William Shelby "Bill" Powell, 84 of Texas City passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015.

Funeral services will be 10 AM, Wednesday December 16 at the Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 15 from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.

Bill was born July 15, 1931 in Galveston. He was a proud BOI and loved to fish, hunt and garden. Bill graduated from Ball High School and received his BBA in Accounting from the University of Houston. He retired after 46 years as an accountant at Amoco Oil where he met the love of his life, Loretta. He was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church in Galveston and regularly attended Mass at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City with his beloved wife, Loretta.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father and four brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Loretta; sons, Shelby Powell and wife, Janet, Paul Powell and wife, Donna, and Alan Powell and wife, Nicole; granddaughters, Lauren Powell, Morgan McCarter and husband, Daryn, Camryn Sigue and husband, Tyler, Emma and Caroline Powell and numerous relatives.

Pallbearers are Shelby Powell, Paul Powell, Alan Powell, Daryn McCarter, Tyler Sigue, Larry Weber and Steve Gore.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
