William (Bill) Fillip

William (Bill) Fillip, 82, of Hallettsville, TX (formerly from Texas City), passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at his home in Hallettsville, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2024, with a visitation from 10:00 -11:00 a.m., at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City,

Bill was born August 19, 1941, in Galveston, TX.  He was raised in Texas City and Dickinson. He graduated from Dickinson High School in 1959 and joined the service in 1961. Bill served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. He was an Instrument and Analyzer Specialist at Union Carbide in Texas City for 35 years.  He was an avid fisherman, bowler, and tennis player.

Bill and Barbara were married in 1966 in Texas City, TX where they made their home and raised their two sons.   He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He was not a man of many words but always made sure his family knew how much they meant to him.  He taught his boys hard work, integrity, and a love for God and family.   He loved playing with his grandchildren.  He enjoyed being outside, especially on his lawn mower.  Bill was a gentle, kind, Godly man who touched the lives of everyone he knew.  

He is preceded in death by his father, William W. Fillip Sr., and mother, Irene Calhoun Fillip

Survivors include wife of 57 years, Barbara Fillip; sister, Dianna Cochran and husband Bill of Ingram, TX; son, Joe Fillip and wife Leisa of Seabrook, TX; son, Steve Fillip and wife Andrea of Texas City; grandchildren, Tina Fillip Larsen and husband Barry, Austin Fillip and wife Britney, Jennifer Fillip Leteff and husband James, Stephen Fillip, Joey Fillip, Cody Fillip and wife Nicole, and Parker Fillip; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers include Austin Fillip, Stephen Fillip, Joey Fillip, Barry Larsen, and James Leteff.
