Weldon Duane Calhoun, Sr.

Weldon Duane Calhoun, Sr., 90, of Texas City, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in his home surrounded by loved ones.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2024, with a visitation from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.

Weldon was born in Rogers, Texas on August 14, 1933, to Arthur L. and Lena Mallicoat Calhoun. Weldon lived a life full of family events. He was always willing to practice sports with his kids and later became involved with his grandkid’s sports, often helping coach Little League baseball. He was an avid Texas A&M fan but also enjoyed watching other sports. He played golf into his later years. He was truly in love with his wife Patsy Calhoun (1936-2011). He drove his car up until he was almost 90 years old.

Weldon attended Texas A&M University and served in the U.S. Navy. He went to work for the City of Texas City and worked his way up to manager of the water department. He retired from the city in 1992, at the age of 59 years. After his retirement, he and Patsy traveled a bit, taking a trip up to New York and back going through the Royal Gorge for about 6 to 8 weeks, plus taking many smaller trips. 

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Patsy Calhoun; daughter, Velda J. Calhoun Clark; brothers, Cornell Calhoun, Edwin Calhoun, Garland Calhoun, Billy Calhoun, and A.L. Calhoun; and parents, Arthur L. and Lena M Calhoun. 

Survivors include sons, Weldon D. Calhoun, Jr. (Judy), and Keith C Calhoun Sr. (Brenda); son-in-law, Andy Clark; brother, Darnell Calhoun; sister, JoAnn Reeves; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Matt Barnett, Weldon D. Calhoun III, Eric C. Calhoun, Keith Calhoun Jr., Kevin D. Calhoun, and Andrew Clark.

Honorary Pallbearers are Christian Barnett and Keiden Taylor
