WALDO JOHNSON

Waldo Johnson, long time Texas City resident, was born in Texas City April 28, 1918 and died May 19, 2014 at age 96. He was the son of former Texas City Mayor E.A. Johnson and wife Epha Johnson. He graduated from Texas City High School and went to work at the Stone Oil Company which later became Amoco Chemicals. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Elizabeth Hassler, in 1938. After his retirement, he enjoyed raising his own herd of cattle, woodworking, gardening, hunting and fishing, and spending time with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty years, Mary Elizabeth,

Survivors include his son and daughterinlaw, Jerry and Diane Johnson grandchildren Ashley and Jamie Jeffers, Jessica and Brian Bannon, and Matthew Johnson greatgrandchildren Brooks and Finn Jeffers.

Waldo will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, sense of humor, and practical jokes. He was a wonderful husband and father and a very good man.

Graveside Service will be Thursday, May 22, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Galveston Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 21, 2014, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City.
