Verna Gordon Nauta, 61, of Texas City, Texas, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Mainland Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Emken Linton Funeral Home in Texas City, Texas.

Verna Gordon Nauta was born Verna Marie Thomas on October 30, 1955 in Houston, Texas to Mary Turner-Thomas and Fred Thomas. She was a prestigious licensed vocational nurse that practiced for 30+ years at facilities such as Memorial Hermann, Women's Hospital of Texas, Regent Care Center and Ashton Parke Care Center prior to her final years of working as an LVN in Geriatric Psychiatrics at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City. She was an avid supporter of Jewish Voice Ministries, The 700 Club, and Christians United for Israel. She was passionate about giving to her community and making an impact in all the lives she encountered during her lifetime. She was active member of True Rock Church in Texas City under the leadership of Pastor Barbara Ruben, who voiced how much she loved her home church dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Turner and Fred Thomas, and brother Alfred Thomas.

Survivors include daughter, Victoria Davis of Texas City, TX and sons, Anthony Gordon of Pearland, TX and Sean Davis of Texas City, TX.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to True Rock Church in Texas City and Jewish Voice Ministries."
