Thomas Schulte

A resident of Baton Rouge for 35 years, Tom was born in Detroit, MI, on his mothers 28th birthday, Dec. 18, 1927. His parents were William C. Schulte and Lina Stephenson Schulte. He died on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at St. Josephs Hospice The Carpenter House from esophageal cancer. Tom contracted polio at the age of 5 and was burdened by the results of the disease the remainder of his life. A native of Detroit, he was a graduate of the University of Michigan with a Masters in Chemical Engineering. Upon graduation and employment with Shell Oil, 34 year career, he moved to Houston, TX. The last 8 years of his career was at Shells Geismar, LA plant. He is survived by his wife Betty, a Houston native, 56 years of marriage. Two sons: Joseph Thomas Schulte and wife Shivaun of Sierra Vista, AZ Paul David Schulte of Baton Rouge one daughter: Marian Lina SchulteCrenshaw and husband Everett Crenshaw of Bath, NC. Five grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. Tom was a lifelong Catholic and member of St. George Catholic Church for 35 years. For 20 years he volunteered at the Alanon office oncemonth. He was generous and kind, and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers if you would like to make a donation in his honor at Covenant House, Donation Processing, P.O. Box 96708, Washington, DC 200906708 or CovenantHouseNO.org. Visitation 5:30pm 7:30pm Monday, Sept. 17, at Resthaven Funeral Home followed by the Rosary. Visitation Tuesday morning 10:30am to 12:30pm followed by Funeral Mass at St. George Catholic Church. Burial will be in Houston, TX at Holy Cross Cemetery, 3502 N Main, on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 2p.m.
