Theresa Stritz-Harris

Theresa Barlow Stritz-Harris, 91, of Texas City, was called home on November 30, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Emken-Linton Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Strickland officiating. Entombment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2017 at the funeral home.

Theresa was born March 21, 1926 in Manchester, Georgia. She grew up in her beloved Albany, Georgia with her parents Joseph Wheeler and Leeannie Elizabeth Barlow, her 2 two brothers and her two sisters. In 1942 she met and married a handsome airman stationed at Turner Field, Miros Stritz. After WWII they moved to Galveston, Texas where they raised their four children. After Hurricane Carla they moved to Texas City.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Miros Stritz, and second husband, Monte Harris; her granddaughter, Cindy Parrish Flores; her grandson, Dennis Stritz; sister, Barbara Strickland; two brothers, Allen and Joe Neil Barlow.

Survivors include her sister,Gail Phillips and husband Brenson of Albany, Georgia; her children, Mary "Betsy" Gaspard and husband Ed, Arlaine Guidry and husband Cloyd, Allen Stritz and wife Karan, and Libby Ann Newman and husband Ricky all of Texas City, Texas; her grandchildren, Mike Stritz, Cliff Gaspard, Paul Parrish, Clay Gaspard, Chris Stritz and Stacey Jarvis as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Theresa enjoyed an active life. She loved going to the Lowry Center where she was a founding member of the Lowry Bunch. Her and her daughter Mary participated in all the local parades and walks. She was a longtime member of the Missionary Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Traditions Hallmark Hospice or Texas City Missionary Baptist Church.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to the care-givers at Traditions Hallmark Hospice.
