Susan Prevost

A Journey Through the Life of
Susan M. Prevost

To the union of Lorena Viltz and Paul Walter Morrison, Susan was born June 20, 1932 in Jennings, Louisiana. Susan was raised in a devout Catholic faith home. At nineteen years old, Susan obtained her beauticians license and began working. In 1952, Susan and husband Whitney James Prevost Sr. moved to Texas City, Texas. While in Texas City, she attended Jones Beauty College. At age 44, Susan led by example. She maintained a 4.0 grade point average while attending Baldwin Beauty College in Houston and Marys School of Hair Design in Galveston. In 1976, the credited hours from both colleges led to Susan achieving her two most cherished accomplishments they were: receiving her Instructor of Cosmetology license and graduating along with her sons, Whitney, Carl and Clemon as they themselves received their college degrees. Susan had such a delight in reading the Galveston Daily News article regarding her and her sons accomplishments. Susan was an entrepreneur in her own right. She worked hard and was an independent and prosperous lady. She worked in the Cosmetology field for over 40 years before she decided to retire and set new goals for herself.
Susan has truly tried to live her life in a Christlike manner, always willing to help others in times of need. Susan was blessed with the gift of giving. That being said, Susan opened her home and turned it into, Prevost Home Share, to accommodate those in need of assisted living. She lovingly cared for her mother at her home until her mothers passing to glory. The state inspectors would frequently come by to inspect the home for any deficiencies. They seemed to always show up around lunchtime to eat Susans delicious home cooking. A beloved mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother, Susan loved her family and was loved by many. Susan leaves behind her advice and knowledge that will enrich our lives and others forever.
Susan Morrison Prevost at the age of 80 was granted Salvation on Wednesday December 5, 2012 at her home. Susan was preceded in death by her parents Paul Walter Morrison and Lorena Cross and her sisters Julia LeBlanc, Thelma Tate and Etna Collins.
