Sarah Pharr

Our sweet mama, Gran, Great Gran and Great Great Gran Sarah L. Pharr, 94, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, October 29, 2020.

Mom was born August 4, 1926 in Shongaloo, Louisiana to parents, Lillie and Floyd Sinclair and grew up surrounded by many aunts and uncles, siblings and cousins in Cotton Valley, Louisiana. Her family was large and loving.

Mom and Dad came to Texas City in 1956 for a better life and to raise their three daughters. Mom enjoyed her daily coffee gatherings with neighbors and friends and continued until the end. She loved her coffee time at 3:00 pm every day.

Daddy would come home from work and Mom would be fixing someone’s hair at the kitchen table, so he decided to put her in a beauty shop and Sarah’s Beauty Shop was born. Her daughters, Brenda and Sandy worked alongside Mom for 28 years until the closure of the shop in 1993 and her retirement.

In later years, Mom and Dad enjoyed fishing and purchased property at Lake Livingston enjoying many years of trotline and crappie fishing. After Daddy died, Mom lived with Sandy and Rodger at the lake and enjoyed fishing and coffee time with friends and family.

Preceded in death by Dad, Joie Pharr. Siblings, Mattie Edwards, Sherman ( Toby) Sinclair, Joe (Bully) Sinclair.

Mom is survived by her three daughters, Brenda Steel, Sandy and Rodger Ates, Barbara and Billy Powell. Brother Carl “Skinner” Sinclair and sister-in-law Carol Sinclair.

Mom loved her family and family reunions, the Lake, trips to the casino and was always ready and willing to go, just like her mama, when the car started up. She was the glue that held our family together and will be greatly missed.
