Roy Leon Barber passed away on April 11, 2022, aged 85, after a long illness, surrounded by his girls, family and friends present.
Roy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather to his family. Roy was an active member of Northside Baptist church and he was loved by that Body of Christ.
Roy was born June 22, 1936 to his parents, Thomas A. and Anna C. Barber. They preceded him in death. He lived for many years in Santa Fe, working on the ranch he loved dearly. A hard-working man, he went to work for many years at Union Carbide until he finally retired. After retirement he worked in the gardens at his home and traveled extensively, living his life to the fullest until his passing. Roy has always been the focus of his family. He and his first wife, Kathleen Massey Barber, had two sons, Roy Glenn Barber, and Lee Allen Barber, all of which preceded him in death.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jerry Lynn (Mize, Myers) Barber; brother, Charles and wife Elaine; his daughter-in-law, Lee Anne Barber; sister-in-law, Janie and husband Tom O’Neil; stepdaughter, Dana Lynn and husband Jeff Johnston; stepson, David Myers; his grandsons, Jarrett Barber and wife Alexa, Jasper Derrick, and great grandsons, Everett and Levi Barber.
A special thanks is given to Sherry George and her son, Mason LInscomb, who took such great care in making this last few months with us as comfortable and filled with love as any family member. Also, a special thank you to Alliance Hospice caregivers Mary Cruz and Michelle Kyle for all that they did.
