Robinson Keeble Neblett

Robinson Keeble Neblett, adored husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away on August 23, 2024, after a quiet and hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Rob will forever be remembered for his incredible combination of strength and wit, with a flair for storytelling that lit up every room he entered. Truly heaven has gained not only a beautiful soul, but also a consummate entertainer. 

Born on September 2, 1950, in Houston, Texas, Rob kept his roots close to home. After graduating from Lee High School in 1968, he ventured off to Texas A&M University, where he earned numerous unprintable nicknames, as well as a business degree. Post college he moved back to Houston where he enjoyed a long and successful career in commercial real estate. 

His fortunes improved exponentially the day he met Lisa Kirk, lovingly referred to by friends as “Miss 1998.” Rob, who was (almost) always an impeccable judge of character, knew he’d be a fool to let Lisa slip away, and the two married later that same year, blending their families and friends in a joyous union. 

Rob was a firm believer that the outdoors were critical to anyone’s life experience, which is why he was often found enjoying a golf course or ski slope, running the loop at Memorial Park, taking in a game at Kyle Field, or horseback riding through the country. He was a lifetime director of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, completed five New York City marathons, and knew many of the Texas waterways by heart. He was a proud member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, River Oaks Country Club, and the Tejas Vaqueros.

Rob also believed deeply in family and friends. He was authentic to his core and showed up for anyone in need (usually with doughnuts). He held a tremendous love for and dedication to his community of AA friends, never hesitating to help anyone struggling or needing support. He lived joyfully and honestly, always embodying the Golden Rule (except maybe when playing Gin Rummy). And he was a legendary storyteller; if there were a Hall of Fame for joke tellers, he would be a unanimous first ballot selection. It was impossible to keep from smiling in his presence, impossible to ignore his love of life. 

Rob was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Duncan Neblett, Sr. and Elizabeth Robinson Keeble Neblett; and his sister Nancy Neblett Kirchmer. He is survived by his loving wife Lisa Neblett; his son Daniel Kamas, wife Jenn Kamas, and their daughters Claire and Alice; stepson Gareth Kirk and wife Martha Kirk; daughter “Amazing” Grace Neblett; his brother Duncan Neblett and wife Georgia Neblett; his twin sister Lucy Kuhn and husband Mike Kuhn; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

 A celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 3:00 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, MD Anderson Cancer Center, or the charity of your choice. Rob lived his life to the fullest. In his memory, we ask you to do the same.
