Robert Lee Petty, 91, of Texas City, was born on March 5, 1921 in Waelder, Texas, the son of Elbert Lee and Annie Green Petty. He departed this life Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Cornerstone Hospital in Webster.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Emken Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. A Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 5, 2013 also at Emken Linton Funeral Home.
Robert was united in marriage to Ester M. Turnage in Muldoon, Texas. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, having served 3 years, 1 month and 28 days with the 10th Mountain Division. He was involved in Battles and Campaigns in North Appennines, P.O. Valley and the Aleutian Islands.
Robert was a survivor of the Texas City explosion, where he has resided for 67 years. He worked and retired after 38 years with Marathon Oil Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents brother Alvis Petty and sister Verna Mae Parker.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Ester M. Petty of Texas City son Robert Dale Petty and wife Sharon of Tomball daughter Barbara Pierce of Tyler 2 grandchildren 2 greatgrandchildren 1 greatgreat grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
