Richard B. Cornish Sr., 86, of Texas City, TX, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Webster, TX.
A Memorial Service, a celebration of his life, will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 8, 2012, at EmkenLinton Funeral Home with Doug McBrayer officiating. A private burial will be planned at a later date.
Richard was born August 8, 1925 in Nashville, Arkansas. He was a pipe welder, retiring from Monsanto after 32 years of service. Richard was a member of Local 211. With Richard Pawpaw, his family and friends were always first in his life. He loved fishing, traveling and camping. He also loved to dance and was the life of the party.
He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Nelson Cornish and Addie Victoria Clark and his sister Vera Mae Wilson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years Jewelene Cornish of Texas City, TX sons Richard Cornish Jr. and wife Jackie of La Marque, TX, James C. Platt and wife Danell of Houston, TX daughter Debra Kay Bryan and husband Greg of Neodesha, KS sister Juanita Womble of Hughes, AR grandchildren Jared Platt and wife Yasmina of Houston, TX, Justin Platt of Houston, TX, Debbie and Stephanie Pruitt of Independence, KS, Lacey Soto and husband Sam of Los Angeles, CA, Rebecca Chartier and husband Aaron of Kansas City, KS, and great grandson Jack Bowie Chartier of Kansas City, KS also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
