Clarence Kevin Reid, 65, of Texas City, Texas passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Emken Linton Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Following the services a Reception will be at Cavalry Baptist Church located at 517 18th Ave N, Texas City, Texas.
Born October 13, 1948 to Clarence and Noreita Reid in Waco, Texas, known to friends and family as Kevin. He passed from this world to his Creator on September 9, 2014.
Married to Patricia Gross Reid, who preceded him in death in 2010. He has resided in Texas City since 1988. He is survived by his family...Siblings include: Rhonda Joe Reid and Cina Sue Brown. Children include: Chera Cole, Richard Reid, Bronwyn Rumsey and Brandon Reid. Grandchildren include: Kevin and Taylor Hansen, Serenity and Shaelynn Cole, Sheridan and Ian Reid, Lyssa, Rebekah, and Sean Rumsey, Meghan, Lily and J.T. Reid. Greatgrandchildren include: Grace ReidChapa and Nathan Hansen.
Kevin proudly served our country as a young man in Vietnam as well as a long, illustrious career in the Air Force Reserves in Intelligence. He was a technician at NASA in the 1970s working for Technicolor during the Apollo moon missions. He attended San Jacinto College, North Texas State University and University of Houston working towards his degree in anthropology. His passion for racing extended throughout his life from a young boy racing go karts with his stepdad to motocross and go karts as a young man to his latest passion of 25 years in modified midgets. He was founder and president of the EMSA racing club and won several championships over his career.
