Ralph B. Thompson, 96, of Texas City, passed into the loving arms of his Maker on Friday, September 25, 2015. He was born on September 26, 1918 in Freestone County, Texas to Clifford and Dora Stroud Thompson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Louise Brunson Thompson, and his sister Modene Botter of Huntsville, Texas.
Ralph was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Texas City, a charter member of the Texas City Host Lions Club {75 yrs), and a member of the Texas City Masonic Lodge No. 1118 since 1948. He spent over 70 years in the retail lumber business retiring from Hoffman Lumber on his birthday at age 96.
Survivors include his son, Bryan Thompson and wife Betty of Corpus Christi,daughters Sharon Yang and husband Kichoon of Indio, California, and Stacy Martin and husband Richard of The Colony as well as his sister Hazel Shankles of Gentry, Arkansas. Grandchildren are Matthew Thompson (Lori), Kristina Robertson (Ryan), Seth Thompson (Allison), Nathan Arnold (Janie), Christopher Martin, James Martin, and John Martin. Great-grandchi ldren are Will Thompson, Rylie Robertson, and Callie Thompson.
A special thank you to friends, Amy Sayles and Cindy Osteen, for their devotion and care during his later years. Also, our sincere appreciation to the staff of Elmcroft of the Mainland, Silverado Hospice, and Griswold Home Health for their care and services during these last weeks.
Pallbearers will be Jack Cooper, Stephen Eggleston Ill,Roy Hoffman,W. R. Furley, Charles E. Scott, Jr., and Roger Whitener.
Visitation will be held at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City on Thursday, October 1from 6:00- 8:00pm with services following Friday October 2 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Galveston County Memorial Park.
