Pete Mata Martinez Jr., 52, of Dickinson, was born on June 11, 1969, endured a week and a half long battle in intensive care, finally succumbing to a severe illness. He passed on Thursday, December 23, 2021, and went to be with his favorite, who he called "God, my Father in heaven." Pete was surrounded by his children throughout his entire fight in the hospital, through to his last and final breath.
Funeral services for Pete M. Martinez, Jr. will be held 11:00, Friday, January 7, 2022, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.
Pete enjoyed country dancing with his daughters and, fishing with his son and grandchildren. His children, Melissa, Ashley, and Nathaniel were his world. He enjoyed going to the gun range, and spending time with his family. He loved playing pool and hanging out while listening to his favorite tunes, from classic rock, to Motown, and even old country. He enjoyed Barbecuing and grilled BBQ chicken was his favorite thing to make. Pete was a Tow truck Driver by trade for many years. A job he grew to love, lastly towing for Classic Transport of League City, Texas, where he cherished his second family. Pete loved people. He never met any strangers. He loved his family and friends. He was down to earth and a simple and humble man.
He is preceded in death by his father, Pete M. Martinez, Sr., and his mother, Jovita Martinez.
Pete is survived by his three children, Melissa Ann Martinez, Ashley Renee Martinez, and Nathaniel JonRick Martinez Meza; five grandchildren, Walter Tyvell Miles, Jr., Kaleah Jade Miles, Brooklyn Renee Martinez, Breshae Merchant, Levi Hampton Pete, and Lloyd Hampton Pete III; two brothers, Rudy Martinez, and Randy Martinez. His companion of many years, Belinda Teagarden, her children, Joseph Garcia, Krista Garcia and Belinda's grandchild, Tyler Garcia; numerous family members, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
Pallbearers will be Randy Martinez, Rudy Martinez, Adolf Soria, Danial Martinez, Robert Mitcham, and Rudy Briseno.
