Oscar Ray Hanks, 93, of Texas City, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 in Texas City.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 1, 2015, at Emken-Linton. Visitation will be 2:00 -3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. Graveside services will be held 12:00 p.m., Monday, November 2, 2015 at Alum Creek Cemetery in Bastrop, Texas.
Mr. Hanks was born August 24, 1922 in Smithville, Texas. He could plow, plant, hammer and paint. Oscar was very active and a deacon in the Grace Primitive Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He retired as an Iron Worker.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Hermina "Mamie"; son, John; daughter, Rebecca and an infant baby boy.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Hanks; children, Billye Adams and husband Don, Donald Hanks and wife Marcia, James Hanks and wife Candy, Tammy Hanks, Linda Foster and husband Jimmie, Bruce Hanks and wife Patricia, Oscar Hanks and Melinda, Sharon Streckfus and husband Tim, Terry Wheeler and husband Steve and twenty seven grandchildren; thirty eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Justin Hanks, Brandon Hanks, Brad Hanks, Wesley Rose, Trenton Hanks, Dillon Martin, Johnathon Barton, Bryan Barton, Ari Schwartz and Jayden Romero.
