NORMA JEAN PIERCE

Norma Jean Pierce was born June 11, 1934 in Galveston, Tx. She passed away peacefully on November 4, 2014 surrounded by her daughters. Her life will be celebrated and honored at EmkenLinton Funeral home in Texas City. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 12th with Reverend Kyra Baehr officiating. The family will receive friends with a visitation on Tuesday, November 11th from 58:00 PM.
Norma raised her family in Texas City, Tx and was a devoted mother, aunt, and grandmother. She spent most of her days helping her family, friends and animals. She was passionate about her love of animals, especially her cats and dogs and could always be counted on to take in any strays. She found great joy in being a volunteer for the Animal Alliance. She was a Girl Scout leader, Softball Team Mom, and enjoyed sewing costumes and clothes for her daughters and their dolls. She was an extremely talented artist and would paint on anything from canvas to rocks, shirts, and Christmas ornaments. You could find her at the Texas City Dike with her easel and canvas painting shrimp boats as they sailed by. Although all her artwork was spectacular, her paintings of the shrimp boats is what was admired most.
Her career as a hair dresser spanned over many decades and after her retirement she continued to renew her beauty license. Her husband built her a beauty shop where her clients returned to get their hair done.
She survived the Texas City Disaster, and although she did not participate in the local anniversary, she enjoyed spending time with her family at the Disaster Memorial Park and the exhibits at the Texas City Museum.
She was the rock of her family and attended the Unity Church of the Bay Area. She is deeply loved and will be forever missed and remains in the hearts of those who admired and adored her. She is the definition of unconditional love and set an example of the type of person that we strive to become.
