Nellie Morgan Daisy Ballard

Nellie Morgan Ballard, 87, a longtime resident of Texas City, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013, in League City, Texas after a brief illness.

A gathering for friends and family will be held at St. Georges Episcopal Church, in Texas City on Saturday, August 24, 2013 beginning at 11:30 a.m. A celebration of her life will follow in the St. Georges Sanctuary at 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Forest Park East in League City.

Daisy was born March 22, 1926 in DeKalb, Mississippi to James Kirk and Ada Morgan. Daisys family moved to Starkville, Mississippi, and she graduated from Starkville High School in 1943. She graduated from Mississippi State University in 1945, where she was secretary to the MSU Dean of Education. Daisy married Louis H. Ballard of Starkville on August 25, 1946.

Louis and Daisy moved to Texas City in 1951 where they became active members of St. Georges Episcopal Church.

Daisy is survived by her husband Louis, her daughter Carol Rosser and husband Steve, grandson Matthew Rosser, sisters Catherine Husmann and Frances Langerfeld, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Georges Episcopal Church, 510 13th Avenue North, Texas City, Texas 77590.
