Nelle was born on February 8, 1925, in Batesville, Mississippi. She graduated from Millsaps College during WWII, and married Harry S. She earned her Master’s Degree in Math and History from Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!).

Upon their move to Texas City in 1953, she became a high school math teacher, encouraging students to pursue higher education; a Thespian sponsor, working with costumes; and a ride-along band bus chaperone (Not on our bus, please, Mom). During her time in Texas City, she led the League of Women Voters, was a Garden Club Flower Show Judge, served on City Zoning and Planning Boards, was a friend of the Moore Memorial Public Library, and was an Elder of the Presbyterian Church where she sang high soprano in the choir into her 90s. She enjoyed music, gardening, playing bridge, and traveling.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry S. Leach; parents, Rosalyn and John B Craig; siblings, Anne Meyer, John Craig, Jr, and Charlie Craig; and granddaughter, Laura Sue Edrozo.

She leaves to treasure her memory her sons, Harry S. Leach, Jr. (Renee) and Alan C. Leach; daughter, Rosalyn Sue Edrozo (Larry); grandchildren, Robert Edrozo (Rebecca), Scott Leach (Hannah), Amanda Cannaday (Cody), and John Eades; great-grandchildren, Savannah Malone-Eades, Sierra Malone-Eades, Laura Elena Edrozo and Gwen Cannaday; good friends, Beth Steiner and Pat Forke; folks at Village on the Park-Friendswood, and many former students and teacher colleagues.
