Nancy Wilbanks-Graham, 93, longtime resident of Texas City, TX, passed away on June 6, 2024 at her home surrounded in love by her family.
Nancy was born in Denton, TX, to Joseph and Maude Evans. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor's in Music in 1952. Due to her love of choral music, she started her work career as a Music Educator in Harlingen, TX, where she met her husband, Marshall K. Wilbanks. As young parents, they moved to Texas City, where she went to work at Monsanto in the records and benefits department, later advancing to supervisor.
Nancy and Marshall raised two wonderful children in the tight knit community of Texas City. After a brief illness Marshall passed in 1997. After experiencing the loss of her first husband, she eventually found companionship with J.B. Graham Jr. of Texas City, and they married in 2000.
Nancy shared her beautiful contralto voice taking part in performances of Handel's Messiah, performing guest solos at various churches as well as being a member of her church choir. She was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many with her infectious smile, kindness, love, and unwavering strength. She was also known to enjoy short outings to get sweet treats. Her presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew her, and her loss leaves a void that can never be filled.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Marshall K. Wilbanks and J.B. Graham Jr., her son, Joe Wilbanks, and brothers Bill and Joe Evans.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Madeline Goldenschue and life partner Robert Dickinson, her granddaughters Shelby Tyer, Amber Wilbanks-Sambile and husband Pablito Sambile, and Kristen Wilbanks-McMillan and husband Daren McMillan, great grandchildren Lydia Tyer, Ella Sambile and Wyatt McMillan, and sister-in-law Imogene Evans. She is also survived by J.B. Graham III and wife Beth, Ken Graham, Matthew Graham and wife Anna, and Ashley Graham, as well as numerous bonus family members.
