Mozelle Pokluda Lubojasky

July 4, 1933 — April 21, 2025

Texas City

Mozelle Pokluda Lubojasky passed away on April 21, 2025, just 3 months away from her ninety-second birthday. Mozelle Pokluda Lubojasky was born on July 4, 1933, in El Campo, Texas, the youngest of three children to Edward and Catherine Pokluda.

Mozelle attended school in Texas City, graduating in 1952. Upon graduating, she went on to Blinn Jr. College to receive her Associates of Arts Degree. While a student at Blinn, she met a handsome football player named Roger Lubojasky and he became her future husband. They were truly "College Sweethearts". While attending college she was very active in many clubs and organizations. She was homecoming queen, a cheerleader and sophomore class favorite.

On July 3, 1954, she and Roger were married in Texas City at St. Mary's Catholic Church. In 1957, they became parents to son Michael Reid, then their daughter Bridget Ann in 1960. Mozelle was a dedicated mother and very active with her children, including Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, little league and softball.

Mozelle decided to begin her teaching career after her children were older. She was a teacher for many years, was very dedicated and loved all her students. Mozelle had many interests throughout her life. Her family always came first; she was a wonderful cook and always had a delicious dinner waiting for them. Mozelle also did modeling for many local establishments, Merle Norman Studios especially. She attended many Bar-B-Que cookoffs with Roger. She was active in the Elks Ladies Auxiliary #2141.

Mozelle loved decorating her home, cooking and baking. She made the best chocolate chips cookies and chicken and dumplings. Mother's home was like walking into a "Better Homes and Garden Magazine"

Mozelle always said the everyone celebrated her birthday on July 4. Mozelle and Roger had a wonderful life together, she said it felt like the best motion movie picture ever and felt very blessed.

Roger passed away in 2007, they will now be together again playing their favorite card game "31".

Mozelle's motto was "Never loss your sense of humor, because this will get you through tough times". As we grieve the loss of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend, please keep that in mind.

Mozelle was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Catherine Pokluda, her husband, Roger Lubojasky and her sister, Maxine Halfmann.

Mozelle leaves behind to cherish her memories, her brother Wesley Pokluda of Billings, Montana; her son Reid Lubojasky and wife Kay of Round Rock, Texas; her daughter Bridget Buffa and husband John of Texas City, Texas; her granddaughter, Katherine Hart and husband Ryan of League City, Texas; her great-grandchildren, Ethan, Ehren and Audrey Hart and several nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to thank Dr. Lena Bruce and her wonderful staff for always taking such good care of Mother. Your kindness and compassion were truly a blessing. Also Dr. Beverly Lewis, when she cared for her. We consider you our dear friends in addition to being our doctors. We would also like to thank her caregiver, Amy Propst from Amada Healthcare. Mother was hesitant about this at first but became very fond of Amy with her kind and compassionate care.
