Morgan Holder, age 90, of Texas City died Saturday, March 25th from metastatic melanoma. He was born in Palestine, Texas on January 21, 1927 and lived there until he was drafted into the army on June 27, 1945.
After his honorable discharge in 1946, he moved to Galveston to work for F.J. Herbelin Freight Forwarder where he met his boss' secretary, Joy. After taking her out for coffee breaks a few times, they started dating and the rest is history. They were married for 66 wonderful years. When asked what the secret of such a long marriage was he would say, "Before we married we decided that I would make all the major decisions and my wife would make all the minor ones. So far there haven't been any major ones." They moved to Texas City and he worked at Monsanto for 31 years until he retired.
Morgan was a true southern gentleman who loved God, his wife, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents T.J. and Alice Holder, brother Max Holder and sister Margie Johns.
He is survived by his wife Joy, sons Tommy, Rick and Barry, daughter Lori Kramer, daughters-in-laws Katie, Marta and Mary and son-in-law Ralph.
