MARY ETHEL ORR McDUFFIE

Mary Ethel Orr McDuffie, 88, of Clear Lake City, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, in League City, Texas.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Texas City. Visitation will be from 5:007:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City.

Mrs. McDuffie was born August 3, 1925 in Brachfield, Texas. Mary is survived by her only child, Deborah McDuffie Tyrell and soninlaw Robert Bob Tyrell. She married James Lewin McDuffie on December 24, 1942, while working in the lab for Monsanto Chemical Company. Later, she returned to college graduating with a BS in Education.

After the death of her husband in 1980, Mary moved from Texas City to Clear Lake City where she enjoyed retirement for 25 years. Active in various organizations in Texas City, she was a natural leader.

Mary is survived by two stepgrandchildren, Shannon Swadis and husband of Sugarland, Texas and Chris Tyrell and wife of Boca Raton, Florida, and four greatgrandchildren.
