Maria Chin Mack

Maria Mack, 96, of Texas City, passed away on April 21, 2025 at her residence in Texas City, Texas.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque, TX on April 29, 2025. Visitation will be 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., followed by the Holy Rosary at 10:00 a.m., and the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. Repast will be held at Queen of Peace Parish Life Center.

Maria Mack was born on February 24, 1929 in Manila, Philippines. She was a successful manager/owner of a shipping brokerage company in Manila. She was a volunteer at the Salvation Army then later was employed as a translator for the Salvation Army in San Francisco, California where she and her husband spent most of their retirement years. She was fluent in 3 Chinese dialects, English, Spanish, Filipino and Japanese. She attended the Far East University in Manila where she studied accounting.

She is preceded in death by Mack Yee Chiong, her husband of 60 years until his death in 2014, Hong Wan, her mother, Chiu Cham, her father and her brother Pedro Chiu Kao.

Survivors include daughters, Mary Mack, Joy Pepper, Rebecca Ursua and Hedy Chiu; sons-in-law, Bill Pepper, Victor Ursua and Pedring Chiu; grandchildren Will Pepper, Matthew Ursua, Jocelyn Ursua, Nikki Chiu, Eric Chiu and Kirk Chiu; great grandchildren Weston Peppper, Brandon Pepper, Eli Ursua, Hadley Ursua and nephew, Danilo Dominguez.

The pallbearers are Victor Ursua, Bill Pepper, Will Pepper and Manny Tan.
