Linda’s signature color was purple. She LOVED purple. The family requests that friends and family wear purple to honor her if they desire.
Linda was born April 6, 1938, in Springfield, IL. She traveled around the country most of her life. She finished out her formative years in Texas City High School, where she met and married the love of her life, Charles Massey. They were married for 54 years, until Charles passed in 2010.
She worked as a phlebotomist, a dental assistant, and an office manager, all while caring for their home and raising her three young children. She was a member of the International Social and Cultural Organization- Beta Sigma Phi for 57 years, having perfect attendance for more than 50 of those years. She held virtually every office, and owned every charm and pin offered, wearing them with pride. She also held a leadership role in Compassionate Friend’s network. She was an avid collector of angels, Barbies, Beanie Babies, and more. She had so many that her husband Charles had to build her a storage unit.
Linda is preceded in death and is now happily reunited with her parents, James William and Ruth Stanton; her loving husband, Charles; Brothers, Paul and Thomas Stanton; her son, Michael Massey Sr.; and her grandson, Chaz William LaBry.
She is survived by her son, Mark Massey; daughter Robin LaBry and husband Randy; brother-in-law, Weldon E. Calhoun; and niece, Amanda Yovan and husband Stephen. She also leaves behind her adoring grandchildren, Darene’e DeLiza LaBry, Lauren and husband James Glenister, Michael Massey Jr. and BreAnne, Tori and husband Cory Pazdera, and Matthew Massey; great grandchildren, Michael III and Haylen Massey, Sadie Bell, and Sawyer Pazdera.
Pallbearers are Keith Calhoun, James Campbell, Julius Schoppe, Matthew Massey, Michael Massey II, Randy LaBry, and honorary pallbearers Michael Massey III and “Paw” Bearer, Blaze Massey.
The family would like to thank the Special care that HCA Mainland hospital provided the last few months of Lindas life. A special thank you to the fifth-floor rehabilitation team of HCA and Shannon and Lashonda from Harbor Hospice in making her final days comfortable and providing compassionate care.
