Leroy Leonhardt

Leroy Elton Leonhardt, 82, of Texas City went to be with our Lord on July 1, 2015. Leroy was born on October 15, 1932 in Round Top Texas, the son of Jacob H. & Loraine Leonhardt.
When Leroy was 15 his family moved from Round Top to Galveston where his father worked as a pipefitter for Amoco Oil Company. After the 1947 explosion, the Leonhardt family moved to Texas City. Leroy graduated from TCHS in 1951. After graduating high school he went to work for Bart Welch Motor Company in Texas City until 1953 when he entered the Army. He was honorably discharged in 1961, returned to Texas City and went to work for Gene Hamon Ford as an auto mechanic. Leroy's entire career was in automotive repair. Through experience and education he obtained his Ford Master Mechanic Certification. He retired from McRee Ford in 1997. He enjoyed gardening, his pets and puttering around in the garage.

He is survived by his wife Margaret McMichael Leonhardt; brother Gene and wife Verna (Blair) Leonhardt of Huntsville, Texas; his children; Debbie and Larry Brizendine of Santa Fe, Texas, Faye Leonhardt of Texas City, Larry and Lynn Leonhardt of Texas City, Mark and Carleen Leonhardt of League City and the mother of his children Bonnie Brizendine. He leaves to cherish his memory five grandchildren: Angela Morales, Lee Leonhardt, Justin Brizendine, Courtney Bowman and Austin Leonhardt and two great-grandchildren Matthew Ibarra and Diego Morales.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jacob Henry & Loraine Leonhardt.

Visitation is on Monday July 6, 2015 at 4:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 5:00 PM.
