Kenneth Demaet

Kenneth Lee James DeMaet departed this life shortly after 1:00 pm on Monday October 5th, 2015. His wife, Louise, of almost 69 years, was at his side at his passing. Ken was born on March 18, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri to Peter and Ida DeMaet. He was an only child. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Louise, his son David and wife Joan DeMaet of Texas City, Texas and his daughter Theresa and her husband Joe Hayden of New Braunfels, Texas. Ken had 4 grandchildren Matthew DeMaet and his wife MaryAnn of Texas City, Texas, Casey DeGroot and her husband Clint of League City, Texas, Nicholas Hayden his wife Mykel of New Braunfels, Texas and Mallory Hayden of New Braunfels, Texas and the University of Southern Mississippi. He also had 7 great grandchildren Lily, Jonah, Peyton, Macey, Kaitlyn, Makenzi, and Dylan.

Ken served his county in both World War II and the Korean War. He reitired as President of the Texas City Terminal Railway Company after 40+ years of service. He was a longtime member of the Lion's Club in both Texas City and New Braunfels. He played professional baseball in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization and semi-professional baseball and softball in the Galveston Area. He was a founder of the Texas City Museum and published a book " Texas City Terminal Railway, 100 years of History".

He lived most of life in Texas City, Texas before retiring to the New Braunfels area. He was an avid racquetball player, golfer and video game master in his later years. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Public Visitation will begin 5:00 PM Thursday at Zoeller Funeral Home and will continue until 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Emken-Linton Funeral Home; 5100 Emmett F Lowry Expy, Texas City, with burial to follow in Forest Park East Cemetery. A visitation will also be held 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2015 at Emken-Linton Funeral Home.
