Kathryn Kappy Ann Florance
Kathryn Ann Florance, 80, of Texas City, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014, in Florida.
We will celebrate Kappys life with a Mass Service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 1, 2014, at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Church in Texas City. The family will receive guests for a viewing at 10:00 AM to 11:00AM before the Mass Service.
Mrs. Florance was born May 14, 1933 in Fullerton, California, the youngest of four children, to John and Geraldine Traverse. Kappy graduated from St. Agnes High School and St. Thomas University in Houston, Texas in 1951 and 1954, respectively. She and her family resided in Texas City, Texas, where she raised five children and was an active member of the Altar Society and the St. Anns group at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City. Kappy was also a member of the George Washington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Kappys upbeat energy and generosity blessed a large group of friends and family. Through her joyful spirit and gift for hospitality, Kappy made every gathering feel like a celebration. She enjoyed playing bridge with close friends, sewing for her family and experimenting with new recipes. She was an amazing cook and relished bringing her loved ones together over meals.
Survivors include her husband of almost 60 years, Robert Glenn Florance, Jr. her five children, Karen Clifton and husband Guy, Katie Levinson and husband Mark, Bob Florance and wife Danita, Margie Mayville and husband Marvin and Kris Cobb and husband Richard seventeen grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
