Joy Brannon

Joy Ann Hampton Brannon passed away on October 19, 2019, at the age of 88.  She was born on November 1, 1930, in Leesburg, Texas, to Jim Davis Hampton and Ocie Polson Hampton.  Joy loved spending time with and bragging on her two beautiful granddaughters and one handsome grandson. She enjoyed reading book after book and sewed beautifully for the people she loved.

Joy was a faithful member of the Mainland Church of Christ, and before that the 7th Street Church of Christ where she was a 4th grade Sunday school teacher for many, many years.  Her faithful love for Christ and His church brought her husband, and therefore her entire family, to Christianity.

Her first job was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. After eight years there, she devoted her life to raising her children and later was a Montessori schoolteacher.

Joy is preceded in death by her father, Jim Hampton, her mother Ocie Polson Hampton, her sister Imogene Hampton Bishop and her brother J.D. Hampton.  Joy is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Earl Ray Brannon of Texas City, her son Barry Ray Brannon and wife Donita Rygaard Brannon, of Texas City, her daughter Karrie Ann Brannon Adams and husband Jeffrey Alan Adams of League City, her precious grandchildren Shelby Ann Adams Williamson and husband Alex Williamson of Texas City, Kelsey LeGendre Adams of League City, Nick Wayne Ward and wife Lindsey Roig Ward of Dickinson, her favorite aunt, Montez Polson Hood of League City, her two very special cousins Darnelle Hood of League City, and Amanda Gilbert Robinson of League City
