Joe DeLaO, 57, of Bacliff, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013, in the comfort of his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends.

Joes family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City, with a Rosary starting at 7:00 P.M. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 14, 2013, at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City.

Joe was born May 11, 1955, in Texas City, Texas, and was a lifelong resident until he moved to Bacliff in 2006. He graduated from Texas City High School with the Class of 1974. Joe worked with Dow Chemical until his retirement in 2008 and was an active employee of MPR. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He was active with his children, Christopher and wife Shannon and Nicholas and wife Angie. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling and watching his favorite football team, Dallas Cowboys. In addition to his family, his grandchildren Mackenzie, Miliana and Vincent were the love of his life.

Joe is preceded in death by Susan, his wife of 33 years, and Emilio Sr., his father. In addition to his sons and grandchildren, Joe is survived by his mother, Mercedes his sisters Estella and husband Neil Debner, Florence and husband Johnny Sanchez and Annie Capetillo his brothers, Raymond and wife Shirley Capetillo, Jessie and wife Rose DeLaO and Emilio DeLaO, Jr. Motherinlaw, Eustolia Garza and his companion, Elizabeth Boles and her son, Rob Boles. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Joes family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of MD Anderson Cancer Center, to the Hospice Care Team, and to family and friends for their care and concern.
