Joan Helene Collins passed on to eternal life on December 27, 2011 surrounded by her loving family.
She was daughter to the late Imelda and Henry Paquin and raised in Fall River, Massachusetts. She moved to Houston in 1957, where she began a career in the airline industry with Texas International Continental Airlines. After meeting Joe Collins on a blind date, the two wed on September 5, 1958. The Collins resided in Texas City for 35 years, where they made lifelong friends, still cherished today. After retiring, they moved to Magnolia.
Joan was a loving and kind wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her family and friendsalways bringing joy through her infectious laughter and beautiful smile. Joan was a gifted florist and seamstress. Among her deepest passions were world travel with her family, reading, knitting and sewing clothing for her daughters, friends, grandchildren and children in need. Joan was also an active member and officer in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Joan is survived by her adoring husband of 53 years, Joe Collins children Kim and Jason Parker, Brad and Bonnie Collins, and Jody and Rob Johnston. Meme is also survived by grandchildren Kristopher, Colin, Kaetlyn, Bradley, Bennet, Casey and Brady. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Shirley Coury of Fall River, MA, as well as, many nieces, nephews and cousins, she loved so deeply and her loyal, devoted best friend Josette Garza.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Emken Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Texas City, TX 775912610, 409 9454444.
