Jo Ellen Black Fincher, 73, passed away in Webster, TX on February 17, 2013.
Jo Ellen was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on March 16, 1939, the first of four children, to Wayne Ruby Black. When Jo Ellen was a young adult, her family moved to Texas City, TX where she attended Texas City High School. Upon graduation in 1956, she moved to Denton, TX to attend the University of North Texas. She would later settle in Spring, TX where she raised her two children, Kelly Eddie.
In 1983, Jo Ellen moved to Texas City. Shortly after moving, she went to work for Gulf Shore Federal Credit Union where she was a loan officer. Over the next 30 years, she established many close relationships with her coworkers and credit union members.
She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle whiz. One of Jo Ellens loves was going to The Lake where she would enjoy friends, family and fishing.
Jo Ellen is preceded in death by her parents and son, Eddie Fincher. She leaves her best friend and companion of over 30 years, Janice Young her daughter Kelly Musick and husband Paul, Granny Jo is also survived by her four grandchildren whom she loved so dearly, Casey Buck, Connor Musick, Michael Musick and Mark Musick. Jo Ellen also leaves behind her sister Jerry Lynn Tkac and husband Jerry Lynn, Dennis Black and wife Lisa, Michael Black and wife Linda, niece Cheryl Tkac Hunter, nephews Jay Tkac, Devin Black, Alex Black, Jesse Black and Corey Black.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City, TX. Services will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 10:00am at EmkenLinton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in League City, TX. Pallbearers will be Jay Tkac, Perry Turnbow, Casey Buck, Connor Musick, Michael Musick and Mark Musick.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Jo Ellens doctors and caregivers during her time of illness.
