Jerry Wayne Whittington of Bayou Vista passed away November 14, 2012 at his residence after a courageous 4 year battle with cancer. He was born in Galveston on November 17, 1957. He attended mostly Texas City schools but graduated from OConnell High School in Galveston. He attended Ironworker Apprentice School to be an Ironworker and was a member of Ironworker Local 135. He worked his way into management and worked for Bechtel at Union Carbide many years. He also worked for Gulf States, Inc., and S B Engineers and Constructors. He needed one more course to be certified in Computer Aided Drafting at College of the Mainland. He was a member of the Sons of Hermann, The Other Cookers R Always in Heat cooking team and the Lamb Goat Auction Committee for the Houston Livestock Show Rodeo.
He is survived by his wife Kim of 25 years, parrot daughter Dinky Beaker, parents Frank and Dorothy Whittington of Texas City, 1 brother, 4 sisters, and several nieces and nephews.
He wished to be cremated and there will be a Celebration of His Life on Saturday, Dec. 1st at 2pm at the Wayne Johnson Community Center at Carbide Park in La Marque 4102 Main St.
