Jerry Payne

Jerry Charles Payne, 74, passed away Thursday, November 10, in Galveston, Texas. Jerry was born to George and Julia Payne on October 17, 1948, in Honolulu, HI. He was mostly raised in California but moved to Texas in 1972.


Jerry was a member of Highlands Baptist Church for many years and also sang in the choir. He loved to bowl, fish, and golf. He never missed meeting with his breakfast group on Thursday mornings. He honorably served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.


He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George. Jerry is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda; 2 daughters, JereBeth Wiederhold (Chris) and Rhonda Blackwell-Flores; 4 grandchildren, Joshua, Jaymie, Gabriel, and Jordan; 3 great-grandchildren, Riley, Adam, and Eli; 3 brothers, Jim, Lewy, and Ronnie; 2 sisters, Lucy and Idella.


A memorial service will be held on December 10, at Highlands Baptist Church, 2908 Cedar Dr., La Marque, Texas. The visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.
