Jerry Garrison

December 30, 1946 — April 1, 2021

Jerry Garrison

Jerry was born on Galveston Island on December 30, 1946. He moved from the island and lived in Abilene, Texas and Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico with his family and returned to the island in 1968.

He attended the University of New Mexico and his focus was on engineering. His career was with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co and before retiring he worked for several industrial refineries.

In his teenage years he could be seen driving his souped-up Dodge Barracuda (with red interior) around Albuquerque and into the Sandia Mountains. He could also be heard playing the guitar and singing "Yesterday" by the Beatles. He dearly loved his family and his dogs, Buddy and Jack, and was a supporter of the ASPCA. Jerry loved to travel with his wife, Sharon, and would take long driving trips to Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana frequently.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Garrison, his parents, Erma and Leslie C. Garrison, his sister, Erma Louise Kappler (born on the same day as Jerry, 2 years apart), his aunt, Lillian "Scamp" Willard, and grandparents, Erma and Ransom Willard.

He is survived by his sons, Jerry Jr and his children, Haley and Jerry Curtis and their children; Scott and his wife, Rebecca, and their children, Samantha (and her children), Mark, Charlie and Billy; his sister, Leslye Mlcak and husband Randy and his nephew and niece Ransom and wife Paige, and Mollye Mlcak; his brother-in-law John Kappler and his children Rhonda, Kevin and John Leslie; long-time family friend, Dr. Nancy Schnautz; and best friends, Mary and Stan Dreyfus who loved to sit and chat and share a cup of coffee.

Jerry will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at HCA Clear Lake, the nurses, care managers and chaplains of A-Med Hospice and the nurses at Focused Care in Webster for their loving care during Jerry's final days.
