James A Moore Sr, , age 92, passed away at Cameron Nursing Home in Cameron, TX on Oct. 30, 2015 after a short battle with lung cancer.
James was born in Colorado City, Texas, May 23, 1923 to John Lawrence and Grace Vera Moore. James moved to a farm in Lamb County near Littlefield, Texas with his mother and dad when he was very young, He was saved and baptized at Lum's Chapel Church near their home in Lamb County. James along with his two brothers and two sisters helped his Mom and Dad on the family farm till he was drafted into the Army Air Force during World War II. James flew 11 missions over Europe and Germany during WWII. He was a Staff Sergeant and waist gunner on a B-17 in Europe and was training to be on a B-29 when Japan surrendered. After WW II, he attended Electrician apprentice school and became a member of the IBEW Electricians Union in Lubbock, Tx.
James met Mary Debbie Ivy at a roller skating rink in Lubbock, Texas. After a short courtship, James married Mary Ivy on Aug 4, 1948 and were together 54 years until Mary passed away in 2002. They had five children while living in Lubbock, Texas. In June 1965, they moved to Texas City. After Mary, his wife, passed away he continued to live in Texas City until he had a mild stroke and then he moved to live with his daughter Barbara in Rockdale, Texas.
James is preceded in death by his Wife, Mary Moore; Brother, William Moore; Sister, Maratha Stowell; Daughter, Elaine Norgan; Grandson, Drew Holbrook Jr.; and Granddaughter Misty (D. D.) Brittain.
James is survived by his brother Johnny Moore and sister Wanda Faye Moore both of Amarillo, Tx.; son and wife, James Jr. and Tammy Moore of Houston; son and wife, Bill and Connie Moore of Santa Fe; Tx., daughter and husband, Barbara and Paul Clark of Rockdale, Tx; and son and Wife, Everett Lynn and Tina Moore of Amarillo, Tx; 9 Grandchildren - Carrie; Jennifer; Michel(Husband Jacob), James III, Billy Jr( wife Toni)., John, Tracy(Husband-Jared), Becky(Husband Timmy), Crystal; 19- Great Grand Children-Tanner, Kade, Malory, Steven, Camden, Jacob, Jada, Jaleigh, Nicholas, Justin, Jake, Jeffery (wife-Jessica), Dusty, Desirae, Isaac, Jacob, Kaleb, Aaron, Marianna (Bell); 1- Great-Great Grand Child - Hunter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Emken Linton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.
