James Michael Burkhalter, of Texas City, Texas, passed away at 3:00 AM, February 16, 2017 at Clear Lake Regional Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday; February 21, 2017 at Emken-Linton Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Monday; February 20, 2017, at the Funeral Home in Texas City.
Mike was born in Texas City at Danforth Hospital September 25,1949. He was a pipe fitter at Amoco, Monsanto, and Sterling Chemical, in addition to also helping start the Pipe Fitter program at College of the Mainland. He was a member of the Pipe Fitter Local 211 He was a Member of the Freemasons, and achieved the honor of serving as Master. He spent many years as a gardener, welder, mechanic, part-time counselor/advice giver, story teller, and political analyst. Mike had many friends and spent his time trying to make people laugh while keeping those around him happy and cared for.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda; his mother Billie Jo; his father, James Weldon; his brother, David, and nephews Josh and Jeremy Burkhalter.
Mike is survived by his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Dean; his daughters, Jamie Burkhalter and Dana Bucci; and his son Joey Ferguson II. Additionally, Mike is survived by his brothers Joe Carl and Kevin; his nephews Shawn, Dustin, and Taylor; and his nieces Lauren, Jaqueline, and Savannah.
Pallbearers include Shawn Burkhalter, Dustin Burkhalter, Taylor Burkhalter, and Ben Bucci.
In Lieu of flowers, donations made to NCALL (National Clearinghouse on Abuse in Later Life) or INPEA (International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse) are graciously appreciated.
