Iris Thomas Bryan passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at her home in Texas City surrounded by family and friends.
Iris was the daughter of John Cleve and Georgia Thomas and was born in Jasper, Florida with her twin brother on August 2, 1937. She grew up and attended school in Mobile, Alabama. She married on April 3, 1955 and moved to Texas City, Texas where she lived with her beloved husband and the Love of her Life, G. H. Bryan for 56 years. She was a member of New Life Fellowship Church of Texas City. Her love of the Lord and her faith was evident in the way she lived her life. She was a strong caring woman and her love and compassion touched many including family, children and friends. She loved children and cared for several in her home. In her later years, she cared for several mentally challenged people that all loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas and her brother, Johnny Thomas.
She leaves to celebrate her life and mourn her passing her husband, G. H. Bryan and four 4 daughters who loved, adored and admired her dearly Helena LaDell Fowler of Texas City, Georgia Diane Burris of League City, Kathy Arlene McGuire and husband, Mike of Santa Fe, and Brenda Joyce Featherly and husband, Tim, of Texas City, eleven 11 grandchildren, Ira Fowler Jana, Chuck Fowler Amy, Amber Foster Tony, Katie Gerace Robert, Holly Rankin, Amanda Tucker Jeremy, Keith McGuire Amiee, Jackie McGuire Merissa, Jermey Maddox, Courtney Smith Nick, Timmy Featherly Christina, TwentyThree 23 great grandchildren with another one on the way, Andrew Reidel , Abby Fowler, Kaelyn Henderson, Tyler Foster, Corey Foster, Nick Alexander, Jazzmine Gerace, Kiersten Gerace, Chris Woods, Matthew Rankin, Morgan Rankin, McKenzie Rankin, Madilynne Rhodes, Hannah Tucker, Brook Tucker, Reese McGuire, Coty McGuire, Mason McGuire, Makenna McGuire, Colt McGuire, Raegan Smith, Tanner Smith, Hunter Featherly. She is survived by brothers, Charlie Ginny Thomas of Spanaway, WA, James Thomas of Ocean Springs, MS, her twin brother Ira Catherine Thomas of Dublin, GA, and sisters Juanita Secondini of Cocoa, FL, Viola Sexton of Moultrie, GA, Marcina and Ron Wilkinson of Milford, TX, Mary Ann Goodwin of Fort Worth, TX, sisterinlaws Molly Thomas of Augusta, GA. Doris Kotek of Friendswood, TX and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be at EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City on Monday, January 30, 2012 from 6:008:00 PM. Services will be at New Life Fellowship Church In the Sanctuary at 2700 Texas Avenue in Texas City at 2:00 PM, January 31, 2012 with the pastor, Dr. R. L. Calhoun, officiating.
Pall Bearers will be Ira Fowler, Chuck Fowler, Keith McGuire, Jackie McGuire, Bubba Featherly, Tony Foster, Robert Gerace, Jeremy Tucker, Nick Smith, Jermey Maddox. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Christopher Woods and Nicholas Alexander. Burial will follow at Forest Park East cemetery in Webster, Texas. Special thanks to Dr. Lena Bruce, Dr. Robert Walmsley, AMed Community Hospice and Stacey Villareal, RN.
