Ina Louise "Sunnie" Holbrook, 90, of Texas City, passed away Thursday, January 19th, 2017.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 23rd, from 5-7 PM at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. The funeral service will be held at Emken-Linton Funeral Home Tuesday, January 24th, at 10 AM with Pastor Doug McBrayer officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.
Ina was born on March 6, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan to her parents James and Jeannette Thiellesen. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Ina Louise Thiellesen married Doc Martin Holbrook on February 13th 1943. At Doc's death in 2006, they had been married 63 years.
Ina was nicknamed Sunnie as a young lady because she was quite the ray of sunshine. Sunnie was a world-class seamstress and an excellent cook; no one ever left her table unsatisfied. She loved her family and most of all her grandchildren.
Sunnie is survived by her son, Donald Holbrook (Kathy), daughter, Rita Holbrook-Wilson. Grandchildren are T.R., Jonathan (April), Daniel, Natalie, Nicholas (Deanna), Skylar, Sean (Lisa), Lauren, Dima and Katia. Great grandchildren are Jordan, Nathan, Joshua, Justin, Hunter and Hollie. Great-great grandchildren are Gabriel, Joshua Jr., Kiele Don, Joshua James and Lillian Paige.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Jeannette Thiellesen , Husband, Doc Martin, Sons Karl James, John Conrad, Drew Paul, Sr., and Grandson Drew Paul, Jr.
Sunnie's family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Resort at Texas City for the unconditional love and compassion shown to our sweet Grandma. Also, very much appreciated were the staff of Texas Home Health Hospice in their unwavering efforts to keep our Grandma comfortable.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan and Daniel Holbrook, Natalie and Nicholas Wilson, Sean and Lauren Holbrook. Honorary pallbearer will be Phillip Wilson.
