Hershel Taylor, 76, of Texas City, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 5:30 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 6:30 PM at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.
Hershel Taylor was born September 26, 1947, in Kokomo, Indiana. An avid fisherman, golfer, and sports enthusiast, Hershel found joy in the simple pleasures of life, spending his days outdoors tending to his yard or cheering on his beloved Houston Rockets and Astros. Alongside his love for leisure, Hershel was a steadfast member of the Texas City congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, embodying his faith with unwavering dedication. Beyond his hobbies and religious commitments, Hershel's true legacy lies in his boundless love and selflessness. He was a pillar of strength for his family, always putting their needs above his own, and his dedication knew no bounds. Hershel's warm and welcoming nature meant that he never met a stranger; his genuine kindness touched the lives of all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
Mr. Taylor is preceded in death by his wife of 32 loving years, Rosie; his parents, Hershel ‘Bud’ and Deltha Mae Taylor; daughter, Julie Hurst; and grandson, Eric Hurst.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his siblings, Horld Taylor, Shelia Butler, Regina Tate, and Delina Murphy; 7 children, Shannon Taylor, Rodney Taylor and wife Kirsten, Shane Taylor and wife Wende, Scott Hurst and wife Tessi, Monica Wylie, Carlos Hurst and wife Bobbie, and Jaime Sanchez and husband Roland; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
