Henry Bryan, Jr.

Henry "Hank" Austin Bryan, Jr., (Hank) 73, of Texas City, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on December 14, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on February 12, 1943, in Brazoria, Texas, to Henry Austin Bryan, Sr., and Elsie Mariam Bryan. He grew up in Jones Creek, Texas and graduated from Brazosport High School in 1961. His childhood was spent outdoors where he developed a lifelong love for fishing. He began studies at the University of Texas, Austin, but came home when his Dad was diagnosed with leukemia and started working for Dow Chemical Company as a pipe fitter. Hank was drafted into the army in 1966 and served as a medic in Viet Nam. After his discharge, he studied computer science and went to work at UTMB at Galveston, as a systems programmer, where he retired. While at UTMB, he met Gloria Gongora Limas; they were married on October 4, 1974. Hank, Gloria and her two children, Anthony and Karyn, made a home in Texas City. Hank and Gloria enjoyed camping, playing golf, and traveling with various family members. Fishing at the Texas City Dike remained a source of pleasure for him. Hank coached his daughter's softball team and also little league baseball in support of his grandson, Chad Austin Lindsey. He delighted in his twin granddaughters, Alexa and Tori Sole. He was blessed to be part of Gloria's large family. Hank was a quiet man and lived his life with courage and dignity.

Hank was preceded in death by his parents, by his son, Anthony Limas, and brother-in-law, Walter Keeble Freeman.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Gloria Bryan, daughter Karyn Angela Sole (Russell), grandchildren Chad Austin Lindsey (Amanda), Alexandra Marie Sole, and Victoria Ann Sole.
