GLENN SELMAN

Glenn Selman, 71, of Texas City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at his residence.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 26, 2014, at EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City. Food and visitation will follow at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Texas City.

Glenn was born June 22, 1943 in Lufkin, Texas and moved to La Marque with his family in 1953. After graduating from La Marque High School in 1961, he attended Alvin Community College and Sam Houston State University. He was a dedicated employee of Union Carbide for 34 years, and retired from the Instrumentation Department in 2001.

Glenn had a gift of athletic ability. He played many sports in high school and college, including baseball, football, and basketball. As an adult, he was a member of volleyball and bowling leagues, and enjoyed playing golf with friends. He also helped coach Little League baseball, and loved watching his grandchildren play sports.

Glenn was extremely active in the local Jaycees for many years and served as President from 19751976. He also volunteered through his church delivering meals to the homebound and maintaining the church fountain. He was a loyal, loving, many of God and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife Jimmi Sue Selman son, Scott Selman and wife Shannon daughter, Julie Stanton and husband Kevin stepson, Andrew Fernandini stepdaughter, Anna Rickabaugh and husband Caleb brother, George Selman and wife Shirley brother, Paul Selman and wife Olivia 9 grandchildren 1 great granddaughter and many extended family members and friends.
