Geraldine Vestal Fairey, age 96, of Texas City, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015. Gerry was born in Bells, TN, on November 29, 1918 to Flossie and Clarence R. Vestal. Mr. Vestal was a volunteer firefighter who died in the Texas City Disaster.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. Visitation will precede the funeral at 10:00 a.m. Burial following the funeral will be at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, TX.
Gerry was a member of the Mainland Church of Christ. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Occasionally, she worked outside the home at Tot-to-Teen children's store in Texas City and as a Librarian's Aide at Texas City High School. She was a member of the Texas City Rainbow Girls in her youth. She was also a member of the Texas City Civic Club, the Garden Club, charter member of the Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce Golden Division, and the Texas City Gotcha Girls. She was an excellent seamstress and fabulous doll clothes maker. She and her late sister, Fern Loeckle, were often mistaken around town for each other.
Robert Fairey, Geraldine's husband of 72 years, died in 2010. They enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home as well as taking several trips out of the country.
Those of her family remaining with many great memories are son, Bob Fairey, Jr. and wife, Sandee; daughter, Linda Cleaves; grandsons, Jason Fairey and wife, Ashley; Kyle Fairey and wife, Melinda; great-grandsons, Blake and Bryce and step-great-granddaughter, Taylor Oster.
Pallbearers will be Bob Fairey, Jr., Jason Fairey, Kyle Fairey, and Michael Loeckle.
