Garvis Smithhart Haseltine
Garvis Smithhart Haseltine, of Texas City, went to be with the Lord at the age of 83, on Tuesday, November 5, 2013.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 9, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Texas City. Burial will follow at Forest Park East cemetery in Webster, Texas. Visitation will be from 4:008:00 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2013 at EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City.
Garvis was born in Lufkin, Texas on December 20, 1929, the daughter of Claude and Robbie Smithhart. She worked many years with Braniff Airlines. Later, she became a travel agent and retired in 1978, while she was manager of International Tours in Galveston.
Garvis loved music. She was the pianist at First United Methodist Church in LaMarque and later Texas City, Texas. She was also the Director of the Childrens Bell Choir.
Garvis is survived by her husband, Lee Haseltine, son Michal Plyler and his wife Jan, daughter Claudia Gage and her husband David, stepson David Haseltine and his wife Barbara, five grandchildren, Ashley Plyler and spouse Jeremiah Campbell, Heather Plyler, Megan and Phillip Haseltine, Stephanie Crowl and spouse David, one brother, Claude Smithhart and his wife Patti, one nephew, Kevin Smithhart and his wife Dana along with numerous other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please send a memorial to the music fund at the First United Methodist Church in Texas City.
