Francis "Gill" Goodwill, Jr.

On January 12, 2020, Francis Gilland Goodwill Jr., passed away and a very unique and loving soul went to heaven.  2020 was not a good year health-wise for Gill.

Gill was born February 14, 1927, the youngest of three children of Winona (Ringwald) and Francis Gilland Goodwill.  He will be joining his siblings and sons whom preceded to heaven. Philip Doughty Goodwill of Tempe, AZ., and Pamella Elmendorf of Fanwood, NJ. along with three sons Warren Alan Goodwill, Floyd Paul Goodwill, and Jay Austin Taylor.  One wife Diane Sykes Goodwill and her mother Mrs. Shelley G Knight and her husband.

His military experience included Coast Guard, Marine Corp and Merchant Marines.  Gill after a partnership owned his own Auto Parts house. Worked for several other companies including American National, GAF, Carbide, Gulf Coast Machines and delivering the Daily Sun Newspaper.  Gill and Diane rented out 13 homes in Texas City and La Marque area.  The Most pleasurable was Lions Club where he volunteered for about 65 years.  Up until the last months he made the monthly meetings and held several positions within the organization.  The last Bayou fest 2018 he assisted in moral support.  He is with Calvin ‘Cowboy’ Jones whom also enjoyed Lion Club and many Lions.

Gills life was a rollercoaster ride.  Many people came into his life for a short time and he cherished the experience of the visits no matter how brief.  His travels around the world and here at home gave us the opportunity and pleasure of receiving his kindness and leadership of life.  He has been missed and the future will have a gap in our hearts.  He is survived by two ex-wives, Jody Hacay and Sydne; four sons, Larry Mark, Francis Gilland Goodwill III (Trey & Juli), John (Denise) and Randy Taylor, and three daughters, Vicki Lyn Goodwill, Doreen Sykes and Vanessa Sykes Wells (Matt). Ten grand-children and 26 great grand-children.

Thank you, Gill for your service and kinship among the living.
