Felix O. Capetillo, 72, of Texas City, Texas, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a Rosary at 7p.m., Monday, May 8 at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 9, at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, in Dickinson, Texas.
Felix was born on May 30, 1944, in Texas City, Texas. He was a pipefitter/welder, Chef and Vietnam Veteran. He was a diehard/lifelong Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Concepcion and Amada Capetillo; brothers, Genaro Capetillo; and Tomas Capetillo, and sisters, Benita C. Segura, and Guadalupe C. Martinez, and Candelaria C. Medrano.
Felix was well known by his nickname - Lefty. He was a life-long athlete. He played several sports, but had a love for boxing and baseball. He played fast-pitch softball into his senior years. He also loved to read about history and visited the library often. Felix was a huge fan of all the nephews and nieces, often attending their events.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Williams Capetillo, his son Michael A. Capetillo and wife Natalie; his daughters Jacquelyn M. Capetillo and Crystal D. Williams. Brother Toby Capetillo and wife Sylvia. Grandchildren Christine Navarrete, Michael A. Capetillo Jr., Analicia Capetillo, Cyera Vasquez and Thalia Vasquez; Great-Grandchildren Reuben Dennis, Melody Van Hyning, Angel Chavez and Lyla Capetillo and numerous nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers include his nephews, Raul Capetillo, Tommy Capetillo, George Capetillo, Robert Capetillo Sabino Medrano; and friend Mario Acosta. Honorary pallbearers are Jorge Hernandez and Albert Sifuentes.
