Eugene Mitchell Brunkenhoefer, 81, of Santa Fe TX, peacefully passed on to his Heavenly home on December 5, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was a faithful Christian, a beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City, TX. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Dayspring Christian Center in Santa Fe, TX. Burial will commence at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, TX.
Gene Brunkenhoefer was born July 16, 1942, in Shiner, TX. He loved Christ above all else and put Him first in all he did. He has been an active member of the congregation that is now called Dayspring Christian Center for around 40 years. Gene was passionate about studying his Bible and would pray into the early morning hours. He loved spending time with his family and had an infectious smile that made everyone feel loved and welcomed. He was a loving and caring man that always put others needs before his own. Gene was an avid fishermen and hunter, enjoyed road trips with his family and liked playing a few rounds of golf when he had the time. To “know him was to love him.”
He is proceeded in death by his dad, Mitchell Ernest Brunkenhoefer; his mom, Rose Kremling- Brunkenhoefer and daughters, Kathryn Griffin-Doorman and Melissa Griffin-Boles.
Gene leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Kathy Ann Brunkenhoefer; eldest son, Eugene “Mitchell” Brunkenhoefer Jr. (wife Sherry); daughters, Delora Griffin-Bunch and Michelle Brunkenhoefer-Gray (husband Daniel) and youngest son, Emmett Eugene Brunkenhoefer (wife Michelle). He also leaves behind sisters, Doris May, Darlene Rodriquez, and brother Allen Brunkenhoefer their spouses and many nieces and nephews.
He will miss his 11 grandchildren and their spouses; Cherry Rose (Dustin), John Grazaffi, Jamie Knighten (Donzaleigh), Chad Cruse (Karen), Logan Brunkenhoefer, Nicholas Griffin (Helen), Brett Bunch, Jordan Brown, Cheyenne Toussant, Trinity Brunkenhoefer (Tyler) and Landen Brunkenhoefer. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Nicholas Griffin, Logan Brunkenhoefer, Chad Cruse, Brett Bunch, Landen Brunkenhoefer and son-n-law, Daniel Gray.
