Ernest John Brinkman
Ernest John Brinkman, 85, of Clear Lake City, passed away May 23, 2014 at his residence.
Ernie was born July 25, 1928 in Port Arthur, Texas. He resided in Texas City, Texas for 38 years
He was a graduate of Rice University where he received his Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering. After his graduation from Rice in 1951, Ernie was employed at the AMOCO Refinery in Texas City, Texas. He was stricken with Polio in 1955 at the age of 26 and went through many months of rehabilitation at the Gonzales Warm Springs Foundation accompanied by his wife and daughter. After rehab Ernie continued with his employment at AMOCO until his retirement in 1988. For many years he enjoyed his hobby of woodworking where he made many unique clocks and furniture items for his family.
Ernie was preceded in death by his father, Henry Ernest Brinkman, his mother, Lucy Mapp Brinkman and his sister Joyce Bowles.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Honore Wriborg Brinkman, his daughter Kay Brinkman Jones and husband Randy, his sister Betty Brinkman Jaseckas, 3 grandchildren Amanda Sciba, Cody Sciba, Randi Glueck and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 29th, at Emken Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Texas City, Texas, with the Rev. Harold Travis officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Port Arthur, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 28th at the Emken Linton Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the March of Dimes.
