Emmie Estelle Powell, affectionately known as "Estelle" or "Mamasz", 96, of Texas City passed away on Friday, October 27th, 2023. She was born February 7, 1927 in Athens, Texas. Estelle was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Estelle was a devoted family person who cherished her loved ones dearly.
She is survived by her daughter, Loretta Culver and her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Diane Powell. Estelle was a proud grandmother of her five granddaughters, Kelli Moore, Sunnie Culver and Randy Johnston, Serina Billups and husband Eric, Tara Spittler and wife Kelsey, and Brenley Powell. She also adored her great-grandchildren, Sydney Moore, Tyson and Reid Billups, Noah Johnston, and Jaxon Lehrman.
Estelle was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Lyman Powell, son in law Douglas Culver, and her grandson Jay Moore.
Estelle's faith was an essential part of her life. She was a founding member of the Texas City Missionary Church and found solace and strength through her friends and family in the church.
Estelle had a passion for sports and was immensely proud to have spent ten plus years managing a baseball card shop in Texas City. She loved watching sports, specifically the Dallas Cowboy and then later in life, the Houston Texans.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Forest Park East Cemetery off the Gulf Freeway in Webster. All are welcome to gather and offer their final respects.
Estelle will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, dedication and passion for family will live on in the hearts she leaves behind.
